Shabbat

Shabbat Shalom!

The literal translation of this popular Hebrew phrase is “Peaceful Sabbath”. We invite you to worship with us on Shabbat year-round. Throughout each month we vary content and styles of service to serve our diverse congregation. Unless noted otherwise, our Erev Shabbat (Friday evening) service is held every Friday at 7:00 p.m. We are live streaming this service on our YouTube page. The link can be found on the front page of our website or on Facebook every Friday evening. We gather for the Shabbat morning service every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The Shabbat morning service is always preceded by Torah study at 9:00 a.m. Both Shabbat morning worship and Torah study are being conducted via Zoom call.

Weekly and holiday services nourish our souls. We embrace a variety of service styles with a combination of Hebrew and English passages. The style is more traditional some weeks and more creative others. Sometimes our Chorale, congregants who generously share their musical talents, enhance our worship. The third Friday of each month is Friday Night Live, an all-music Shabbat evening service filled with uplifting and upbeat contemporary music led by our adult band and vocalists. Some weeks we use the Mishkan T’filah prayer book and some weeks we write our own service. Several times a year we travel back in time and honor our Classical Reform roots and worship using the Union Prayer Book.

We offer various Family Shabbat experiences geared toward young families. Select Fridays each month from  5:30 PM-6:30 PM is Mini Minyan, an experience for families with children aged 18 months to 6 years. Mini Minyan programming includes a light dinner, activities, and worship. These opportunities promote social interaction and provide multi-sensory explorations of Shabbat and other Jewish holidays. These encounters build communal connections, familiarize families with the synagogue, and help create ritual and routine in creative ways. Bring your friends!

Select Fridays each month, we have our Shabbat Shireinu service. Please join us as we welcome Shabbat with song. Our TIR students join Cantor Barry on the bimah throughout the service. This service begins at 6:30 PM and is preceded by a light dinner and nosh, which begins at 6:00 PM. This service is for everyone ages 2 to 102!  Click here for our Shabbat Shireinu Booklet
